Shop On Fire Legal Intelligence / paid research
Strong research. Clear drafts. Counsel in control.
When the question is difficult and the deadline is approaching, your team needs research it can inspect and use. We provide focused research, record synthesis, and proposed drafting under attorney supervision, plus business intelligence for company leaders.
Start with one defined question. Scope, fee, timing, and revisions are agreed before work begins.
Now available · paid research engagements
Two ways to put the research desk to work.
Shop On Fire Legal Intelligence turns a defined question into a concise, traceable research product. Our team connects the primary record, competing authorities, and the practical issue your attorney or leadership team needs to examine next.
Litigation research & drafting support
Bring us one disputed issue, a draft that needs a fresh review, or an upcoming argument. Working under your attorney’s direction and supervision, we research authorities, organize the record, test competing arguments, and prepare proposed language for counsel to review.
- Focused issue memoranda with supporting and contrary authority.
- Authority maps showing jurisdiction, posture, and precedential weight.
- Record chronologies and source references identifying factual gaps.
- Draft sections, proposed edits, and oral-argument question sheets.
Counsel sets the assignment, evaluates the law and facts, chooses the strategy, and approves every final filing or legal recommendation.
Business intelligence from the legal record
Understand how public litigation and emerging decisions intersect with contracts, warranties, customer calls, dealer relationships, and manufacturer support. We translate developments into business questions, source maps, and practical records or workflow checks.
- Issue briefings tailored to your industry and operating priorities.
- Public-record research on a defined issue or market development.
- Risk signals and questions to take to your existing counsel.
- Team education connecting a published ruling to everyday processes.
For your company’s active dispute, case-specific analysis and drafting are scoped with supervising counsel. Business briefings provide education and intelligence; your attorney advises on legal obligations and action.
The useful distinction
A source is the start. A usable decision tool is the product.
We look for the distinction that changes how an issue should be researched: allegation versus finding, jurisdiction versus merits, duty versus injury, or evidence in the record versus an unsupported inference. Each assignment reports what supports the proposed framing, what challenges it, and what remains unresolved.
What your team receives
An executive summary, the defined question, pinpoint source references where available, the strongest opposing material, limits of the search, and a dated handoff. Drafting assignments include proposed language or a comparison of edits. Format and depth follow your team’s working style.
Start small: one focused question and a short memorandum with its source appendix. Expand to a draft review or recurring intelligence brief after the initial engagement demonstrates fit.
One question. A clear scope. A controlled handoff.
- Define the assignment. Identify the issue, jurisdiction, deadline, preferred format, and supervising attorney when required. Begin with a non-confidential description.
- Agree the engagement. Confirm conflicts, authorized sources, confidentiality arrangements, permitted tools, deliverables, revision cutoff, and the quoted fee in writing before work begins.
- Research and challenge. Review the primary material, separate controlling from persuasive sources, examine contrary authority, and flag missing records or unresolved questions.
- Review and hand off. Deliver through the agreed channel. Counsel reviews case work; company leaders review business intelligence with their advisers. Additional work requires an agreed scope.
How is this priced?
This is a paid service. We quote a defined project or a recurring research scope after reviewing the assignment and capacity. The quote states deliverables, timing, revisions, and any separately approved source costs. Sending an inquiry creates no payment obligation.
Can we use this on a case already underway?
Yes, subject to conflicts, capacity, and an agreed assignment. A supervising attorney must direct and review case-specific research and drafting. We work to the agreed research deadline; counsel remains responsible for court deadlines, filing requirements, and the final submission.
Does the service include representation or legal advice?
Shop On Fire is a research and business intelligence provider, not a law firm. We do not represent clients, appear as counsel, file documents for them, or provide independent legal advice. A disclaimer alone does not replace attorney supervision for work that requires legal judgment.
Can we send confidential case files now?
Start with a general description only. After the scope, conflicts, confidentiality, access, and counsel’s authorization are settled, we agree an appropriate transfer channel. Privilege is not automatic; your attorney determines how the engagement and communications should be structured.
Bring us the question worth answering
Request a paid research scope.
Tell us your role, the general topic, relevant court or jurisdiction, desired deliverable, and target date. Keep confidential facts and attachments out of the initial inquiry.
A clear first engagement
One question. A useful answer. A traceable source path.
This illustrates the delivery format; the assignment and actual findings are defined with your team.
| Question | The narrow issue counsel or company leadership has assigned. |
|---|---|
| Findings | A concise summary, relevant authority, and the distinction that may change its use. |
| Challenge | The strongest contrary source, unresolved facts, and limits of the search. |
| Handoff | Pinpoint references, a source appendix, and proposed language where included in scope. |
For drafting, headings should communicate the proposed argument clearly. Counsel reviews the framing, law, record support, and final wording.
